JPA Triples July 2019
This year’s JPA Triples champions are Andrew Bellamy-Burt, Jake Romeril and Callum Stewart. The trio beat the hitherto only unbeaten team in the competition, Mark Nicol, Rich Nevitt and Matt Pinel, 13-6 in the final held on the terrain at St Martin.
The runners-up had made it difficult for themselves in the semi-final having gone 5-10 behind to Ross Payne, Geoffroy Buffetrille and Neil Selby but they ran up the next eight points to clinch the match.
In the final they went behind by the same scoreline but this time Jake Romeril fired out their last boule to score the three points needed to win the championship.
In the other semi-final the eventual winners beat Steve Foster plus Joy and Derek Hart and the latter also missed out on the bronze medals, losing 13-7 to Payne, Buffetrille and Selby, who’d been the runners-up in 2018, in the third place play-off final.
In the quarter-finals Nicol, Nevitt and Pinel beat Keith White, Bob Morel and Mike Fennell 13-3; Bellamy-Burt, Romeril and Stewart saw off Paul Bell, Dave Le Gresley and Tom Le Sueur 13-4; Foster and the Harts beat Alan Lahiffe, Paul Waters and Sid Simkin 13-5 while Payne, Buffetrille and Selby edged out Wendy Ritzema, Gary Cowburn and Colin Myers 13-9.
