Jersey Pétanque Association Men’s and Women’s Triples September 3rd 2016
In the men’s final it was a battle between two teams representing the Liberation and Carrefour pétanque clubs and it was the latter who took the trophy.
The Carrefour trio of Neil Selby, Michel Morel and Keith Boleat swept into a 12-nil lead before their opponents managed to get out of the starting blocks. Ross Payne, Matt Buesnel and Matt Ryan picked up four points on the next two ends but the damage had been done and Selby, Morel and Boleat finished the job to win 13-4.
It was a deserved victory because they were the only trio to get through the qualifying round unbeaten.
They went on to win their fourth game in a row in the semi-final, beating Derek Hart, Steve Foster and Doug Scott 13-5. In the other semi, Payne, Buesnel and Ryan managed a 13-8 win against Andy Limbrick, Steve Leathem and Alan Huelin.
The women’s competition was played on a league basis and the worthy winners were Joy Hart, Wendy Ritzema and Judy Dove who won all but one of their matches ending up with a points difference of plus-52.
Second on four wins, were the trio of Lorna Limbrick, Wendy Luce and Ali Heulin.
In joint third were the threesomes of Rosie Boleat, Joan Le Roy and Mandy Davey plus that of Penny Foster, Paulette Reed and Sue Fox.
